The first rankings of the 2018 college football season as the Amway Coaches Poll was released Thursday.

Of course, it’s the rankings at the end of the season that matter most, but with the way that the College Football Playoff polls work, it has become important to be established as top-25 team from the season’s get-go.

It should be no surprise to see defending national champion Alabama lead the way at No. 1 overall. The first Big Ten team to show up, Ohio State, checks in at No. 3. The votes were presumably submitted before head coach Urban Meyer was put on administrative leave.

A total of five Big Ten made the poll. With Wisconsin and Penn State joining OSU in the top 10. Michigan State and Michigan are not far behind in the top 15.
