Ryan Day reacts to drawing unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in Week 4

Ryan Day was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct during Saturday’s game between Ohio State and the Marshall Thundering Herd.
The incident occurred when Ohio State was subbing players and Marshall did the same. The Thundering Herd took their time doing so to the point Day was forced to use a timeout. Day wasn’t happy about having to do that, and the aftermath that unfolded was what ultimately drew the penalty.
Day didn’t agree with the call, saying that he must have been too “loud” and that he did not curse at the officials as he was trying to clarify that there were 21 seconds left on the play clock when Ohio State was making its substitutions.
“I guess I yelled too loud. I’m not sure why. But that’s what happened,” Day said at his postgame press conference.

Penalties and all aside, Day and the Buckeyes got the outcome they were after with a strong 49-14 win over the Thundering Herd. Ohio State will continue the schedule with a matchup on the road against the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.
