ESPN’s FPI predicts the outcome of Ohio State-Michigan State matchup

Ohio State is out of what has been an easy nonconference schedule as the Buckeyes open up B1G play on the road against the Michigan State Spartans.
And, naturally, ESPN’s Football Power Index is weighing in with what it thinks will happen. The FPI is giving the Buckeyes a 92.8% chance to win this game. That means ESPN doesn’t think the Spartans have much of a chance to win at home at just 7.2%.
The B1G rivals will collide in a 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff from Spartan Stadium with the game airing on Peacock.
The Buckeye have been one of the most impressive teams during the 2024 season, having won their first 3 games by an average of 45.6 points. Last week, Ohio State got a battle early from Marshall, as the score was only 28-14 at the half. However, the Buckeyes pulled away en route to the 49-14 victory.
Running back Quinshon Judkins was spectacular, rushing the ball 14 times for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Buckeyes rushed the ball 31 times for 280 yards and 5 touchdowns as a team.
Michigan State has quietly been 1 of the more surprising teams in the B1G. They have been decimated by injuries, but are 3-1, coming off a 23-19 loss at Boston College. The Spartans were up 19-16 with 1:28 remaining, but the Eagles scored a touchdown to get the win.
Quarterback Aidan Chiles has really struggled, as he has thrown only 4 touchdowns compared to 7 interceptions. Against a vaunted Ohio State defense, that could loom large.
