Bret Bielema made some headlines this week for his comments about Penn State’s White Out this weekend — and the Nittany Lions didn’t let him forget about it ahead of kickoff.

“Blue and white, or whatever they’re going to be in this weekend,” Bielema said earlier in the week. “They’re gonna be dressed, right? It’s probably gonna be one or the other. I know they’re calling for ‘White Out energy’ or whatever the hell that means.”

Bielema’s words were thrown back at him on Penn State’s video board just moments before kickoff on Saturday night in Happy Valley. Here’s a look at the video board, courtesy of Audrey Snyder:

Despite this being a top 25 matchup, Penn State is favored by 18 points at most sportsbooks. The Nittany Lions and Fighting Illini are both undefeated entering this matchup.

Penn State is 21-6 all time against the Illini. Illinois’ last win in this series came back in 2021 when the Illini won 20-18 after 9 overtime periods. Bielema and James Franklin are 1-1 against each other as the head coaches at these schools coming into this matchup.
