Purdue has parted ways with offensive coordinator Graham Harrell 4 games into the 2024 season, with the Boilermakers off to a 1-3 start. The Boilermakers fell to Nebraska 28-10 in their Big Ten opener in Week 5.
“Decisions like this are never easy,” Purdue head coach Ryan Walters said in a statement. “After evaluating our start to the season, I felt that it was best for our team to amke a change now. We are appreciative of Graham’s contributions to our program and wish him the best going forward.”
Harrell, a former Texas Tech quarterback, joined the Purdue staff in 2023 as its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Prior to that, he held the same position at West Virginia (2023), USC (2019-2021), and North Texas (2016-2018).
The Boilermakers opened the season with a 49-0 win over FCS Indiana State but is winless against their FBS opponents so far in 2024. They were walloped at home by Notre Dame 66-7 in a game where they finished with just 162 yards of total offense. That was followed by a 38-21 loss to Oregon State before a loss to the Cornhuskers.
Purdue visits Wisconsin in Week 6.
