Michigan’s JJ McCarthy won a lot of big games during his run in Ann Arbor, including the biggest game you can possibly win, as the quarterback led the Wolverines to their 1st national championship since 1997 last season.
Now in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, McCarthy went back to school in a way this week to narrate Michigan’s hype video for Saturday’s primetime showdown at Washington. Yes, it’s a Big Ten showdown between foes who in previous years would be meeting in a Big Ten-Pac-12 matchup.
But now Washington is in the B1G, and when the Wolverines kick things off with the Huskies at a little after 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, it will indeed be a conference battle despite the distance between the schools. Welcome to college football in 2024, and McCarthy’s voice was there to get Michigan fans fired up for the game.

Washington is a slight favorite despite being unranked and the Wolverines being ranked 10th in the latest AP Poll. ESPN’s matchup predictor goes a little further with that theme, giving the Huskies a 58.2% chance to win, as Washington’s home-field advantage in faraway Seattle is expected to challenge Michigan a lot on Saturday night.
Michigan is 4-1 overall and will look to get to 3-0 in Big Ten play, while Washington comes in at 3-2 overall and 1-1 so far in its 1st season in the conference.
