B1G Bowl Projections after Week 6: Minnesota inches closer as Indiana climbs the board

Week 6 of the 2024 college football season absolutely could not have been more dramatic.

But it was glorious, wasn’t it? Well, unless you’re an Alabama, Tennessee, Mizzou, USC, Michigan or Louisville fan.

A few changes have been made to the College Football Playoff picture. For one, Boise State has replaced UNLV as the G5 representative. Ashton Jeanty has single-handily made it clear the Broncos are the best of the G5 programs in contention for the spot as of now.

Oregon has jumped considerably to No. 5 while Michigan has effectively lost its shot at reaching the Playoff, short of an insanity run to finish the season that includes wins over Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon and Illinois. I don’t see it, y’all. USC is in serious trouble too. The Trojans now have 2 losses on the season and still have to face Penn State and Notre Dame.

Indiana is a sneaky College Football Playoff contender right now. The Hoosiers have yet to lose this season and have a relatively simple schedule remaining. Win the games you’re supposed to and split Ohio State/Michigan (Indiana gets the Wolverines at home) and they might be in business. We’ll see, Hoosiers.

I’m going to end this section with an apology to Iowa and Wisconsin fans for leaving the Badgers and Hawkeyes off from last week’s list. Obviously, both programs are trending towards sticking around for bowl season after the regular season schedule finishes up – I just overlooked them entirely. Not this week! Our current projections see the Hawkeyes facing Kentucky (again) and the Badgers facing Cal.

Until next week, college football.
