Michigan State has plenty of work ahead to round out the 2025 recruiting class for head coach Tom Izzo. However, the Spartans landed their first piece via an elite wing out of Virginia.

The player is Jordan Scott, a 6-foot-7 small forward out of South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia. Scott held over a dozen notable offers, including a wealth of offers from the Big Ten that included Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Penn State, Maryland and Washington.

Now, he’s on his way to East Lansing as the first piece for Izzo in 2025.

“Tom Izzo, legendary coach. He’s built a great foundation over the past 30 years and I definitely want to be a part of that program,” said Scott about his ultimate commitment.

Scott also spoke of a trust being developed between himself and Izzo throughout the recruitment, including Izzo’s trust in Scott’s playing style:

“He’s looking for a tall wing that can stretch the floor, and I think he sees that in me,” said Scott. “He also sees that I can play the right way and play the Michigan State way.”

As for the 2024-25 season, Michigan State is in search of the deep March run that has eluded the Spartans in recent seasons. Izzo’s group finished tied for 6th in the B1G standings a season ago in spite of entering the year with major expectations in the preseason.
