Rece Davis issued a big challenge to Oregon fans on Friday afternoon.

The College GameDay host is in Eugene with the rest of the crew this week preparing for the colossal matchup between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon. While on location in Eugene, Davis laid down the gauntlet to Oregon fans.

Davis gave credit to Washington and Washington State, but said he’s always considered Oregon to be the “standard” for GameDay crowds on the west coast — but not anymore after Cal’s showing last week.

“The title was wrestled away last week,” Davis said. “Cal. Cal brought it. Cal was an amazing scene. One of the best in my 10 years on College GameDay. So this quad on Saturday morning needs to be alive … If you don’t want everybody on the west coast to say and be correct that ‘the whole damn world is Bear Territory’ then you better show them what the Duck is up tomorrow morning. See you on College GameDay.”

Here’s video of Davis’ comments:

Oregon fans will have to be up very early — or late, depending on how you look at it — in order to meet Davis’ expectations. The show in Eugene will begin at 6 a.m. local time on Saturday morning — just under 12 hours before the Ducks take on the Buckeyes in a top-3 showdown at Autzen Stadium.

However, it’s nothing Oregon fans aren’t used to. This will be the 12th time Oregon has hosted College GameDay.

Unfortunately, longtime GameDay analyst Lee Corso will not be present for the show on Saturday due to illness.
