Kirk Herbstreit was very impressed with what he saw out of Oregon and Ohio State on Saturday night in Eugene.
Herbstreit shared his thoughts on the game following Oregon’s 32-31 win. He referred to the Ducks as the “real deal” and gave credit to quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Oregon’s offense for delivering when it mattered most.
Herbstreit also acknowledged the great effort from Ohio State and said the Buckeyes are still one of the “top teams” in the country heading into Week 8.
Wow. What a game!!
Congrats to @oregonfootball on a HUGE win! Players stepped up when it mattered most and Gabriel and his weapons delivered. Oregon real deal and now we know (after some easier opponents and home games) that @OhioStateFB is a very good team. They’ll drop a few…— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) October 13, 2024
Gabriel led Oregon on a game-winning field goal drive in the contest’s final minutes. He threw for 341 yards and 2 touchdowns on 34 attempts while also adding another score on the ground.
Ohio State may get another crack at revenge vs. Oregon later in the year. It’s possible these teams will meet again in the Big Ten Championship Game in December at a neutral site. They could even face at some point during the College Football Playoff, depending on how the rest of the season plays out.
This was Oregon’s second straight win over the Buckeyes.
