Michigan State head basketball coach Tom Izzo is a legend in many places, and that is certainly true at his alma mater of Northern Michigan.
The College Basketball Hall of Famer is leading his team into an exhibition matchup against Northern Michigan today, and he had his jersey retired at the university prior to the game’s beginning.

Izzo also spoke to the team prior to the game about how unique of a moment and game this was, emphasizing the importance of taking in a memorable event:

Izzo played for Northern Michigan from 1973-1977 and also served as an assistant on the coaching staff from 1979-1983.
