Sam LaPorta scored on the longest play of his brief NFL career on Sunday — on an insane flea flicker — with the Detroit Lions visiting the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in a Week 6 game.

With just over 3 minutes played in the second quarter, it initially looked as if the Lions were set for a routine pass play as quarterback Matthew Stafford received the snap. That’s when things went a little crazy: the ball was pitched 3 times before eventually making its way back to Stafford, who uncorked a long one down the right sideline and found LaPorta, who raced to the end zone and dove in for the score.

Here’s video of the play:

LaPorta’s longest reception to that point had been 48 yards, set during his rookie season in 2023. This one went for 52 yards.

The Lions entered the day at 3-1, winners of back-to-back games before the bye week after falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys came in at 3-2 and on a 3-game win streak of their own, against the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Detroit, however, flexed its muscle in the first half of Sunday’s game, taking a 27-6 lead into the locker room thanks to 20 second-quarter points.
