Late arrival Maurice Washington is the buzz of Nebraska’s fall camp

Freshman RB Maurice Washington didn’t have the chance to participate in player-run practices with his Nebraska teammates this offseason. He’s barely had a chance to get used to his dorm room. It doesn’t seem to have mattered.
Washington has only been at Nebraska, but he’s already the buzz of fall camp. The former 4-star recruit – ranked the No. 10 running back in the class – was only admitted to school last week, but his late arrival does not seem to hampered his progress on the field.
He’s listed at only 6-1, 170 pounds, but the reports out of Cornhuskers camp are that Washington is proving difficult to bring down. He’s also a noted speedster. That combination is already proving to turn some heads as coaches (such as quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco and offernsive coordinator Troy Walters) and teammates (such as freshman QB Adrian Martinez) are taking notice of Washington’s play-making ability.
“He’s special. He has another gear. He has some instincts that you just don’t coach,” Walters told reporters recently.
So is Maurice Washington the real deal? It's early, but it appears coaches and players think so. Click the link to hear what they had to say about the #Huskers newest running back. #GBR #Omaha

Asked Verduzco to name anyone — anyone besides a quarterback — who has impressed him this fall. Took some pressing, but he finally said: Maurice Washington.

And, look, we’re not kidding about Maurice Washington. He’s the talk of this deal. Martinez: “He’s a damn fine player.” #huskers
