No. 24 Michigan and No. 22 Illinois are set to face off in one of the most anticipated ranked matchups on Saturday, and one storyline to follow is that the Fighting Illini will be without star running back Kaden Feagin, who was ruled out in the team’s availability report.

Illinois will also be without offensive lineman Magnus Moller and outside linebacker Daniel Brown. The loss of Feagin, who leads the ground effort for the Fighting Illini in both carries and yards, is not just as temporary as this game either.

Head coach Bret Bielema made that apparent in one of his recent meetings with the media that Feagin is dealing with a unique injury that he’s only seen one similar to in his career.

“We’re still in this process,” Bielema said. “I think, to think that he’s going to be back any time soon is not real. But, I don’t want to comment until I know the facts. He literally hasn’t had a decision on what is going to be done or how it is going to be done until we gather all the information. We’ve literally consulted probably about four or five different voices here on campus but also around in the country.”

Feagin’s 2024 numbers include 306 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 67 carries. He’s also tacked on 37 receiving yards on 5 receptions.

Michigan will also go into this game down at least one key player with DL Rayshaun Benny listed as out for the game. LB Jimmy Rolder  and OL Myles Hinton were also listed on the availability report as questionable.

Michigan and Illinois are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET in the University of Illinois Memorial Stadium.
