Oregon reached the highest of heights on Sunday when it ascended to No. 1 in the latest AP Poll.
The Ducks are a perfect 7-0 overall, a perfect 4-0 in the Big Ten and now have that “1” next to their name as they prepare for a Week 9 home game against No. 20 Illinois on Saturday. Oregon is must-see TV right now and the Ducks also have that target that comes with being the No. 1 team in college football.
For whatever reason, maybe that new No. 1 target that’s on his team’s back now, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning has decided to take a pretty drastic measure. It was announced Monday that Oregon was closing practice access for the entire week as the Ducks get ready for the Fighting Illini, who will invade Autzen Stadium with their own momentum.
Oregon doesn’t have practice access on Mondays anyway, but to close practice access for an entire week in the middle of the season is an indication that things are a little different right now in Eugene, which they are, of course.
Just an FYI, Oregon football doesn't have practice access on Mondays, but Dan Lanning has closed practice access for the entire week. No. 1 ranked Oregon will host No. 20 Illinois on Saturday.

Lanning didn’t say why he was doing this, but he is scheduled to speak to the media on Monday night, so one would think he will be asked immediately about the issue.
