Ohio State will be down a defensive starter for its Week 9 game against Nebraska. Safety Lathan Ransom has been ruled out for the Big Noon conference contest. During game week, Ryan Day shared that Malik Hartford or Jaylen McClain could fill in for Ranson.
Ransom, in Year 5 of his college football career, has been a starter for the Buckeyes all season. The veteran defensive back has logged 29 total tackles so far this season, including 19 solo stops with 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 1 quarterback hurry.
It was Ransom who scored Ohio State’s first defensive touchdown of the season. He got a scoop and score in Week 1 against Akron.
The Buckeyes are eager to get back on the football field. OSU last played 2 weeks ago, losing a thriller to Oregon in a top-5 showdown.
