Ryan Day destroyed on social media as Ohio State struggles mightily vs. Nebraska

Ryan Day is not having a great day as Ohio State comes off its bye week with a Week 9 game against Nebraska.

Considering the way the Huskers looked last weekend, and Ohio State’s recent loss to Oregon, many expected an angry and hungry Buckeye squad to come out for the game against Nebraska. However, that has not happened, at least as it relates to the OSU offense.

Outside of a couple of deep ball touchdown passes, Ohio State was held in check for the first half. The ground game was not a factor with Nebraska stuffing Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson time and time again.

The 3rd quarter was a particularly disastrous portion for Ohio State. Across 4 offensive drives, the Buckeyes managed 23 total yards of offense, a trio of 3-and-outs, and an interception against the Huskers.

It’s a doubly concerning performance from Ohio State’s offense considering what the Nebraska defense looked like a week ago. Facing Indiana on the road, the Huskers were shredded for nearly 500 yards of offense from the Hoosiers in a brutally efficient performance.

The good news is Ohio State’s defense is for real, and Will Howard was able to rally the offense for a go-ahead drive late in the game. Still, it’s more than a worrisome afternoon for the Buckeyes with a 21-17 win after being favored by more than 3 touchdowns.

Is Day’s team cooked in spite of a talented roster and elite expectations? Fans seem to think so, and the head coach received the brunt of the criticism to no surprise as social media destroyed the coach.
