Indiana has tied its best start in program history after its 31-17 win over the Washington Huskies on Saturday in Memorial Stadium.

And they did it in dominant fashion by playing a complete game, getting out to a 14-0 lead over the Huskies in the second quarter. Washington struggled to answer until it was able to score a touchdown before both teams walked into the locker room at halftime.

The Hoosiers held onto the momentum for the final two quarters of the game, putting 14 points on the scoreboard over that time period.

The Hoosiers appear to be for real this season after some struggles over recent history as one of the only remaining undefeated teams in the nation with an overall record of 8-0. The last time the team had a start to the season that was that successful was several decades ago back in 1967.

Now, Indiana has a chance to beat its own record by winning a ninth consecutive game. That was something the 1967 team was not able to accomplish as they lost their ninth game in highly disappointing fashion, 33-7 to Minnesota. The 1945 team went 9-0-1, but the tie came in Game 2.

Indiana looks like the stronger team as the next matchup it has on the schedule is against Michigan State on Saturday, Nov. 2.
