Illinois wide receiver Pat Bryant left Saturday’s game against Oregon after sustaining contact to his head in the second half. While we wait for an official update from the Illini, it seems likely that Bryant’s day is done with the Ducks holding a big lead.
On the play in question, Bryant had a ball go off his hands and was spun around by one Oregon defender. As he was spinning, a 2nd defender arrived and made contact to Bryant’s head.
A flag was originally thrown for targeting on the play, but a booth review overturned the call.

At this point, the penalty is of lesser concern considering the status of Bryant. He was clearly shaken up and laid on the turf while being tended to by training staff.
Bryant eventually got to his feet but walked off the field gingerly with the help of trainers. He was briefly evaluated on the sidelines before going back to the locker room, so it feels likely that his afternoon is done.
Monitoring Bryant’s status moving forward will also be of concern. He is the team leader in every major receiving category and has 7 receiving touchdowns on the season. The Illini will face Minnesota next weekend to kickoff the month of November.
