Dick Vitale is recognized by sports fans everywhere for his basketball commentary, but if you’ve listened closely to his broadcasts or followed him on social media, you probably know Vitale is an observer of multiple sports.
On Friday, Vitale voiced his support for Urban Meyer keeping his head coaching job at Ohio State. Vitale took to Twitter, shortening many of his words and using digits for numbers.
“… give me 1 reason y / what has he done to be even suspended ? He gave his superiors info about Zach Smith / police never charged Smith in 2009& 2015 / I don’t see y Urban should be blamed,” wrote in his visually unpleasant tweet.
It’s not difficult to decipher that Vitale does not see a reason for Meyer to be dismissed, let alone suspended. Vitale’s ESPN colleague Paul Finebaum has been vocal in his opinion that Meyer will keep his job, but be suspended from coaching multiple games this fall. FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd recently shared a similar opinion.
Those asking @OhioStAthletics to fire @OSUCoachMeyer / give me 1 reason y / what has he done to be even suspended ? He gave his superiors info about Zach Smith / police never charged Smith in 2009& 2015 / I don’t see y Urban should be blamed .
