Iowa has ruled out multiple players, most notably at quarterback, ahead of the Hawkeyes’ Week 10 matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers.
Both Cade McNamara and Marco Lainez, who would otherwise be the third-string quarterback, have been ruled out for the contest. In their place starting will be Brendan Sullivan, taking over the QB1 position in McNamara’s absence. McNamara recently suffered a concussion, which will keep him sidelined temporarily.
Up to this point in the season, McNamara had completed 104 of his 172 passing attempts this season for 1,017 yards with 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Sullivan will have a tough task considering his lack of in-game reps this season, having appeared in 6 contests, completing 11 of his 16 passing attempts for 93 yards with 1 passing touchdown.
On the ground, Sullivan has carried the ball 17 times for 77 yards with 3 touchdowns.
Other Iowa players who have been ruled out include defensive back John Nestor, wide receiver Reece Vander Zee and tight end Addison Ostrenga. The Hawkeyes have one questionable player in tight end Luke Lachey. Here’s a look at the complete availability report:
Iowa and Wisconsin are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET in Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes will look to stay on the right side of the win column after most recently defeating Northwestern, 40-14.
