Caleb Williams appeared to suffer an injury late in the game against the Arizona Cardinals in NFL Week 9. Injuries happen in the NFL, but many are taking exception to the situation that led to Williams getting injured with the Chicago Bears out of the game.
The Bears were trailing 29-9 late in the 4th quarter, and for some reason, Williams was still in the game. When a team invests a 1st-round pick in a QB, you’d typically think that QB would be removed to prevent injury in a blowout.

The Bears had no chance to come back and win, considering they trailed by 20 points with under 30 seconds to play. After the game, head coach Matt Eberflus was asked about the decision to keep Williams in the game.
“Just getting work,” the coach said, adding that they were working on timing in the 2-minute drill.

On the surface, that reasoning sounds fine. However, the Bears’ offensive line had been dominated on Sunday. The Cardinals racked up 6 sacks and 5 tackles for loss on the day.
On the day, Williams completed 22 of 41 passes for 217 yards. The rookie didn’t find the end zone but also didn’t turn the ball over. If Williams is healthy, he will play against the New England Patriots in NFL Week 10.
