Indiana made history this weekend by moving to 10-0 on the season for the first time ever.
Now, the Hoosiers are making history in the AP Poll as well.
Indiana moved up 3 spots to No. 5 in this week’s AP Top 25, marking its highest ranking since the 1967 season — nearly 57 years ago. That season, Indiana achieved a No. 4 ranking in the final AP Poll of the year.
This is only the third season ever in-which Indiana has claimed a spot in the top 5. The only other IU team to accomplish that feat did so way back in 1945.
Indiana has been one of the most dominant teams in the country this season. The Hoosiers didn’t trail in a single game this season until last week against Michigan State, but they rallied for a 47-10 win over the Spartans.
More recently, Indiana defeated Michigan 20-15 on Saturday in Bloomington. The victory marked Indiana’s third win over Michigan in the last 50 years.
Indiana will now turn its attention to Ohio State. After a bye week in Week 12, the Hoosiers will travel to Columbus to take on No. 2 Ohio State. That game could determine whether or not Indiana reaches the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history this fall.
Indiana will learn its new College Football Playoff ranking on Tuesday evening.
