Uncle of Jordan McNair: Maryland killed my nephew

The uncle of the deceased former Maryland player Jordan McNair made an emotional public statement on Monday night, saying that the university was responsible for his nephew’s death.
William Tarrant talked about cutting his nephew’s hair just before heading back to school. But Tarrant never expected that it would be the last interaction he would ever have with McNair.
“I had just cut his hair,” Tarrant told News4 in Washington. “Never thought I would never see that boy alive again. Next time I saw him was when I was cutting his hair for getting him ready for his funeral.”
McNair was hospitalized in late May after suffering from a heatstroke following a summer workout with the team. He died two weeks later.
“University of Maryland killed my nephew. Their training staff, them people, they killed my nephew,” Tarrant said.
Head coach D.J. Durkin and other members of the coaching staff at Maryland have been placed on administrative leave following an ESPN report that claims that their was a “toxic” culture within the football program, where bullying, intimidation and abuse had become ordinary.
The family of McNair intends to file a civil suit against the University of Maryland. McNair’s death and the program are currently under investigation.
