Dan Lanning has become notorious for leaning into overarching themes and emotional moments as head coach at Oregon, and he and his players followed that trend in Madison on Saturday.
“Jump Around” at Camp Randall Stadium was as raucous as it had been all season when the Badgers led the No. 1 team in the land 13-6 entering the fourth quarter. But the Ducks chose to play into the tradition, as the Oregon sideline jumped up and down with the fans during the intermission before going on to win 16-13.
Everything Oregon had to say tonight about… jumping around during “Jump Around”:
Lanning: “Kind of like Pavlov’s Dog, when you hear that song it means it’s time to go.”
Boettcher: “We played that every single practice. We knew going into the 4th quarter that was going to be a… pic.twitter.com/SlJ0Zirbln

Lanning likened what the song did to his team to Pavlov’s historic dog experiments, while linebacker Bryce Boettcher touched on how the anthem brought the team together to rally in the final frame.
Dillon Gabriel added that this Oregon team just chooses to enjoy moments like that instead of shying away from them, and star running back Jordan James explained that he thinks it might have played a factor in the final result.
“It was kind of a reset button,” James said. “I’m sure it kind of threw them off that we were on the other side jumping around to their song.”
It certainly appears to have played an impact on the final score. Oregon rode a 10-0 fourth-quarter surge after the song to erase the deficit and escape with a 16-13 win over the Badgers.
