Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class has suffered a blow.
On Monday night, Alabama flipped 4-star defensive back Ivan Taylor from the Wolverines. Taylor took to social media to announce the news.
“Happy to announce my commitment to the University of Alabama,” he posted. “I’m blessed for the opportunity, and I look forward to playing for Coach (Kalen) DeBoer and his staff. Roll tide!”

Taylor is rated as the No. 7 safety, the No. 9 player out of Florida, and the No. 59 overall prospect in the 2025 class per the 247Sports Composite ranking. The talented prospect stars for West Orange High School in Winter Garden, FL.
The young DB’s father is former Pittsburgh Steeler Ike Taylor. The elder Taylor spent 12 years in the NFL, winning 2 Super Bowls and collecting 14 interceptions in a solid pro career.
In 2023 as a junior, Ivan Taylor racked up 45 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, and 1 interception. Taylor had been committed to Michigan since July before flipping to Alabama on Monday. Before settling on Michigan, Taylor had been committed to Notre Dame. He also received heavy interest from Florida and Florida State.
Taylor’s addition gives the Tide the No. 5 class for 2025. The class is headlined by 4 5-star prospects and 12 4-star prospects. Michigan has 18 verbal commitments for the No. 14 class nationally.
