Oregon has officially clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game following its 8-0 start to conference play.

That news was confirmed by the Big Ten on Tuesday afternoon. The league says it has determined the Ducks have clinched a Big Ten Championship Game berth following a “comprehensive evaluation” of all possible scenarios that could occur over the final 2 weeks of the regular season.

Even with a loss to Washington in Week 14, the Big Ten concluded that Oregon would still advance to the conference title game regardless of what happens for the rest of the season for Ohio State, Penn State or Indiana.

Those latter 3 programs are all still alive for a possible Big Ten Championship Game berth alongside the Ducks, however. Ohio State and Indiana will face off this weekend.

Oregon owns an 11-0 record for the first time since 2010. The Ducks are also the No. 1-ranked team in the country, according to the College Football Playoff selection committee. A new set of rankings will be released on Tuesday evening.

Oregon’s most recent conference championship came at the end of the 2020 season.

The Big Ten Championship Game is set for Saturday, Dec. 7, in Indianapolis.
