Joey Galloway made the case for Indiana to bench quarterback Kurtis Rourke for the Ohio State game on Tuesday night during ESPN’s coverage of the latest CFP rankings reveal.

Galloway, who played at Ohio State from 1990-94, suggested the only way Indiana could be left out of the 12-team Playoff field following their 10-0 start is if Rourke suffered a season-ending injury before the final rankings are released.

Galloway brought up Florida State missing last year’s Playoff due to Jordan Travis’ season-ending injury as precedent.

“They have a chance to go on the road and prove what they are,” Galloway said of Indiana’s Week 13 game in Columbus this weekend. “Now, honestly … if I’m Indiana, I don’t know if I’m playing Rourke against Ohio State. We’ve seen what happened to Florida State last year with Jordan Travis.

“What could keep Indiana out of this? Getting their quarterback hurt.”

Here’s a clip of Galloway’s comments from the CFP reveal show:

Rourke has been integral to Indiana’s success in 2024. He leads all Big Ten passers with an efficiency rating of 186.67 so far this season. He’s also second nationally in that category behind only Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart.

Indiana and Ohio State will kickoff at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon in Columbus.
