Former Michigan assistant Biff Poggi has been a major piece of the coaching staff for the Wolverines in the past. More recently, he has been the head coach at Charlotte, but that tenure did not end well.

Poggi was recently fired in his 2nd season leading Charlotte with a 6-16 overall record. It was his first head coaching job in college football, but Poggi previously presided over prominent high school programs in Maryland.

Now, Poggi released on social media that he will return to Ann Arbor this weekend to spend time with new head coach Sherrone Moore. The details of the visit were left murky, but many fans on social media took the opportunity to issue a plea to Poggi to return to Ann Arbor as a part of the new coaching staff.

Poggi first served at Michigan as an analyst for Jim Harbaugh’s program in 2016. He later returned as an associate head coach from 2021-22, helping engineer the turnaround for the Wolverines.

We’ll see if anything more comes of Poggi’s visit to Michigan.
