Penn State DL announces retirment due to injuries

Penn State defensive lineman Ryan Buchholz is calling it a career and has decided to retire from the game of football due to an exhaustive injury history.
Buchholz made the announcement on Twitter Wednesday morning, citing extreme pain and multiple back surgeries for the reason behind his decision. He concluded his statement by thanking head coach James Franklin and the rest of the Nittany Lion coaching staff.

“After multiple back surgeries and the inability to perform 100% at this level, it is time for me to retire,” Buchholz wrote. “You only have one body and my health and future well-being is most important to me.”
Buchholz played in 23 games for Penn State over the last two years, recording 34 tackles and five sacks since 2016. Last season, Buchholz registered 18 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumbles in 10 appearances.
