Minnesota pulled off a huge momentum-swinging play just before the end of the first half on Saturday against Penn State.

Just as it appeared Penn State was about to tie the game with 19 seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter, the Golden Gophers proved to have other ideas.

Following a Penn State touchdown, Minnesota blocked the ensuing extra point and returned it all the way to the end zone for a 2-point conversion. That big play make it 19-16 Minnesota going into the half.

Here’s a replay of the big moment:

That’s defensive back Jack Henderson on the block and defensive back Ethan Robinson on the return.

It’s been a rough afternoon of special teams play for the Nittany Lions. They also had a punt blocked in the 2nd quarter, resulting in a Minnesota touchdown with 1:10 to go in the half.

Penn State is fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff. A loss on Saturday to the Golden Gophers would throw serious doubt on their CFP résumé entering Week 14.

Minnesota is 6-4 on the season entering this matchup with the Nittany Lions.
