Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels just combined for what could be the Play of the Week in the NFL. Unfortunately, that heroic effort is going to fall by the wayside in a loss for the Washington Commanders.

Facing the Dallas Cowboys, Washington got the ball back deep in its own territory while trailing 27-20 with less than a minute remaining. Fans waited with anticipation to see if Daniels had more late-game magic similar to his game-winning Hail Mary vs. the Chicago Bears, and the answer was a resounding yes.

The play was relatively simple in design with McLaurin working to the outside and down the sideline after lining up in the slot. He was able to get behind Dallas’ frontline of the secondary with Daniels floating in an easy pass to McLaurin.

After that, it was off to the races with McLaurin torching multiple defenders and giving Washington the miraculous touchdown to make it a 27-26 game with just seconds remaining.

Unfortunately, Washington still needed to kick the PAT in order to tie the game, and that kick would be no good in a game that will be defined for special teams miscues. It is the first game in the Super Bowl era with 2 missed PATs, 2 kickoff return touchdowns and a blocked punt.

Dallas would return an onside kick for a touchdown, a decision that ultimately awarded Washington another shot at a miraculous Hail Mary. But this time, it would fall just short with Dallas hanging on for the 34-26 win.
