Kirk Ferentz is used to hearing it from Iowa fans who are frustrated about one thing or another, usually the Hawkeyes offense.
But this time the Iowa head coach was the one telling fans to do something. On Tuesday, Ferentz encouraged all fans to wear black for the Hawkeyes’ Black Friday rivalry game against Nebraska. The primetime game on NBC will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Kinnick Stadium, and Ferentz wants the atmosphere to be at peak level as Iowa tries to beat Nebraska and nail down an 8-4 regular season.
Kirk Ferentz encourages fans to wear Black on Friday even though it's not an official Blackout. Iowa players will be in their all-black jerseys like against Wisconsin.

The Iowa football social media account calls it a “Black Friday Blackout” at Kinnick, and the post also urges fans attending the game to dress in all-black attire.

Ferentz and the Hawkeyes will hope to recreate the magic they had in the all-black jerseys on Nov. 2, when they took down Wisconsin 42-10 in a Saturday night domination. The fans’ all-black attire on Friday night should also allow them to bundle up as much as needed, as it is expected to be necessary in order to stay warm.
Temperatures in Iowa City on Friday are expected to stay below freezing for the entire day. The temperature at kickoff is expected to be around 20 degrees and dropping.
