Joel Klatt has a problem with Indiana’s placement in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
The Hoosiers, who enter Week 14 with a 10-1 record, are on the bubble in the No. 10 spot. They sit behind Georgia and Tennessee, who both have 2 losses, as well as ACC darling SMU.
“The disrespect is pretty obvious,” Klatt declared. “Because if you actually look at the resumes… then you would see that Indiana’s resume is better than SMU’s.”
Klatt pointed out that Indiana’s best wins, over Michigan and Washington, are more impressive than SMU’s wins over Duke and Louisville. The Hoosiers are 50th in FPI’s strength of schedule metric while the Mustangs are 77th.
The analyst then compared Indiana’s loss to the losses of other teams in Playoff contention. The Hoosiers lost to Ohio State while Miami lost to Georgia Tech, SMU lost to BYU, and Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois. Only the Hoosiers’ loss was against an opponent currently slated to make the Playoff.
“One of these (losses) is not like the other, and so, the committee needs to revisit that.”
“The disrespect is pretty obvious.” 😅🫣@joelklatt shares his thoughts on Indiana as a bubble team at No. 10 in the latest CFP ranking ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/0AvF7aJzwL

Indiana will end their regular season with a matchup against in-state rival Purdue on Saturday. Because of the loss to Ohio State, the Hoosiers cannot appear in the Big Ten Championship Game.
