Ian Thomas has all the tools to turn into quite a player in the NFL.

The former Indiana Hoosiers TE was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round of this year’s draft. Now he has a chance to learn from veteran Greg Olsen and develop into a weapon with the Panthers offense.

If Friday’s touchdown is any indication, Thomas is well on his way to becoming a solid player in the NFL. He caught a pass from QB Cam Newton on a short crossing route, but it was his speed that made the difference. Thomas burst past the defense and beat everyone to the pylon for a nice touchdown.

Rotoworld’s Josh Norris shared a video of the play:

Thomas only recorded 28 receptions during his time at Indiana, but he averaged 14.4 YPC with 5 TDs. He certainly presents an intriguing matchup problem with his speed at the TE position.
