Robinson was named TCU’s starting quarterback Sunday by Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson. The sophomore signal-caller beat out Pennsylvania transfer Michael Collins.

“Both of them will play in the first game but Shawn will be the starter,” Patterson told reporters. “Mike will have a chance to get his reps.”

Robinson appeared in five games last season as the backup to Kenny Hill. He was 13-of-27 passing for 184 yards and three touchdowns in 2017.

Robinson was the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback of the class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite, and was recruited by former Buckeyes assistant Tim Beck, but OSU did not extend a scholarship offer. Ohio State ended up signing Tate Martell, the Composite No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the class.
