Report: Urban Meyer had multiple meetings with Ohio State investigators

Stadium reporter Brett McMurphy has expressed concern that Ohio State’s Urban Meyer probe may not produce an obtainable public record, as investigators delivered their findings in an oral briefing Monday. While the investigators findings in their own words may not become public knowledge, details of the investigation are still emerging in the press.

Sources close to the investigation continue to speak to local media, particularly The Columbus Dispatch newspaper. Dispatch reporter Bill Rabinowitz wrote Tuesday that Meyer had multiple meetings with investigators.

Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer met “more than twice” with investigators examining his response to the Zach Smith domestic abuse allegations during their two-week probe, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Dispatch on Tuesday.

The paper’s source did not have details on Meyer’s meetings with investigators, but described former Securities and Exchange Commission head Mary Jo White, leading the investigation, as “very thorough, down the middle and by the book.”

Meyer has been on paid administrative leave since Aug. 1. The investigation concluded Sunday. Ohio State’s Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday to discuss the findings.
