Paul Finebaum discusses Ohio State’s decision to give Urban Meyer 3-game suspension

After a long day of deliberations and discussions, the Ohio State Board of Trustees and president Michael Drake came to a decision to suspend Urban Meyer for three games of the 2018 season.
The suspension comes in wake of an investigation of Meyer’s knowledge regarding a domestic violence incident involving former wide receivers coach Zach Smith.
Everyone was giving their two cents on the suspension, debating on whether or not the punishment was harsh enough for Meyer. SEC Network show host Paul Finebaum weighed in on the conversation.
Finebaum had some complimentary things to say about Ohio State, but wasn’t impressed with Meyer’s response at the press conference.
“I thought the decision was sound, and I believe this committee gave it a lot of thought,” Finebaum said on ESPN. “I was impressed by the president and the athletic director, but I was underwhelmed by Urban Meyer. He read the statement like a hostage with a gun to his head. He came off as arrogant, petulant.”
Finebaum’s take on Meyer seemed to be a general consensus among media members during the press conference Wednesday night. Meyer took plenty of heat for his remarks regarding what he’d say to Courtney Smith, the ex-wife of Zach Smith and the alleged victim of domestic violence.
Meyer will miss the first three games of the season, meaning the Buckeyes will be without their head coach for games against Oregon State, Rutgers and TCU.
