News that Urban Meyer will serve a three-game suspension and will eventually return to the sideline for the Buckeyes in 2018 has improved Ohio State’s national championship odds in Vegas.

Eleven Warriors reported that Ohio State’s odds of winning the B1G and the national championship this year have seen some improvement after the announcement of Meyer’s punishment. The information came from Bovada.lv.

“An influx of Ohio State action has moved (shortened) their odds in multiple future categories,” Kevin Bradley, a Bovada.lv sportsbook manager, said in a release

Prior to the announcement, Ohio State’s odds to win the national championship were at +850 (17/2) and +175 (7/4) to win the B1G. After Meyer’s suspension, those odds improved to +750 (15/2) to win the national title and +160 (8/5) to win the conference.

“These moves can be attributed to the influx of action on Ohio State as well as the fact that we believed that there would be much stiffer penalties for Coach Meyer and most of the prices factored in that he would be missing a significant part of the season,” Bradley said.

Even without Meyer on the sideline, the Buckeyes are still heavily favored against Oregon State in Week 1.
