Football at Indiana is always held in the highest regard. Fair or not, Bloomington has always been seen as a basketball town.

But recently the Hoosiers have enjoyed a little more success on the gridiron and have been much more competitive in recent seasons. Apparently FOX play-by-play announcer Joe Buck hasn’t been watching.

During a preseason NFL games between Philadelphia and Cleveland, Buck started talking about current Eagles quarterback Nate Sudfeld, who spent his college days at Indiana. And that’s when Buck — who also studied at IU briefly, by the way — took a jab at the Hoosiers.

“A guy who went to Indiana, didn’t get a chance to do much with the Indiana Hoosiers,” Buck said during the broadcast.

Legendary Cowboys quarterback and Buck’s broadcast partner, Troy Aikman, then chimed in with “who has?”

The problem with Buck’s statement? It’s just not true.

Sudfeld left Indiana as the program’s all-time leading passer, throwing for 7,879 yards and 61 touchdowns in 38 games with the Hoosiers. He also guided Indiana to its first bowl appearance in nearly a decade in 2015.

Buck might want to think about what he says next time. Sudfeld accomplished plenty during his time in Bloomington.
