Morgan Ellison, Indiana’s leading rusher from the 2017 season, has been suspended indefinitely. The news game via a program release on Friday.
Ellison, a sophomore, was expected to be the primary back for the Hoosiers in 2018 after a breakout season as a true freshman. Last fall, he rushed for 704 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games. His 64 yards per game average was 10th-best in the B1G.
The release states that Ellison has been suspended from all team activities.

Ellison was a two-time B1G Freshman of the Week in 2017, excelling in wins over Georgia Southern and Rutgers.
With Ellison out of the picture, Cole Gest, Mike Majette and Ricky Brookins will be Indiana’s likely options out of the backfield. Gest was the team’s second-leading rusher, racking up 428 yards and a touchdown in 10 games.
Indiana opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Florida International.
