Two B1G contenders in ESPN’s updated Heisman Watch

The preseason list of Heisman favorites tends not to fluctuate too much. When you’re unable to see a player perform in over seven months, how much could the stock in one player really change?
But on Friday, ESPN updated its Heisman Watch with just a week before major college football programs take the field again. Two B1G names made the cut.
Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor and Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley found their name on ESPN’s watch list. Here’s the top 10 list from ESPN:
- Bryce Love, RB, Stanford
- Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin
- Ed Oliver, DT, Houston
- Will Grier, QB, West Virginia
- Khalil Tate, QB, Arizona
- Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
- Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma
- Trace McSorley, QB, Penn State
- McKenzie Milton, QB, UCF
- AJ Dillon, RB, Boston College
Here’s what ESPN had to say about Taylor, who stands behind only Stanford star Bryce Love:
By breaking Adrian Peterson’s FBS freshman rushing record with 1,977 yards, Taylor put himself on the national radar last year. Don’t be surprised if he tops his 2017 performance after a full season in the program and while running behind arguably the nation’s best offensive line. He has speed, power and durability, recording 10 100-yard performances and three 200-yard performances on 299 carries.

Both Taylor and McSorley will hit the field next weekend to open the 2018 season. Wisconsin hosts Western Kentucky on Friday, Aug. 31. Penn State opens with Appalachian State on Saturday, Sept. 1.
