NCAA recognizes UCF’s national championship in record book

UCF has been self-proclaiming itself the 2017 national champion of college football after polishing off a perfect season and defeating Auburn in the Peach Bowl last year.
That claim has earned even more legitimacy.
Brandon Helwig, a reporter covering UCF sports, noticed that in the 2018 NCAA record book, the Knights have been recognized as co-national champions for the 2017 season. They “split” the title with Alabama, which defeated Georgia in the College Football Playoff championship game.

Whether or not all the gimmicks from UCF made a difference in the NCAA’s decision is unknown, but the Knights certainly made it publicly known that they considered their 2017 squad a national champion.
So congratulations to new Nebraska head coach Scott Frost, who now is a national champion as a head coach and a player.
