Kevin Willard and Maryland fell to Florida in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night, ending the Terps’ season.

In his postgame press conference, Willard was asked about his future in College Park — a fair question given the amount of speculation regarding the Villanova job over the past week. Willard also previously frustration over the uncertainty at the top of Maryland’s athletic department, with former AD Damon Evans leaving for the SMU job earlier this month.

Willard was blunt — and seemingly transparent — about his future.

“I don’t know what I’m doing, I’ll just be honest with you,” Willard said. “I haven’t talked to my agent, I haven’t talked to my wife. I made a promise to this team that I was going to just focus on this team and that’s all I’ve done.

“My biggest concerns in life right now, I don’t know who my boss is gonna be. The guy that brought me here who I really like and am appreciative of him bringing me to College Park, is not here anymore. And I don’t know who we’re going to hire. And in today’s day and age, that worries me a little bit. My honesty got me in trouble, it might as well keep getting me in trouble.”

Willard also reiterated that he “loves” Maryland but doesn’t yet know where his career will take him.

“I love College Park, I love Maryland,” Willard said. “When you’re at this point in your career and you’re looking at things, you have to take everything in consideration moving forward. But I have not even talked to anybody so I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Willard will have to make a decision in the coming days.
