Connor Stalions has been a talking point in college football the last 2 years, as he was a huge part of the sign-stealing investigation at Michigan during the Wolverines’ national title run 2 seasons ago.
He resigned from his post at Michigan midseason and moved on to coach high school football last season. He coached at Bellville High School at the end of the year, where superstar quarterback prospect Bryce Underwood played. At the time, Underwood was committed to Brian Kelly and LSU, but later changed his mind and decided to commit to Michigan late in the process.
The perception to some was that Stalions played a role in Underwood’s fip. But during a recent interview, Stalions denied that he ever tried to help sway Underwood to Michigan.

“Bryce Underwood is not committing to Michigan because his fifth offensive coordinator behind the scenes was convincing him to commit to Michigan,” Stalions told J.D. Pickell on On3sports. “I actually had a great relationship with the coach at LSU, Joe Sloan who was recruiting him. I had like a 3-hour conversation with Joe, and I was like, I don’t think he is going to flip to Michigan. Coach Sloan is pretty awesome. I don’t think Bryce was committing or not committing because of 1 relationship.”
Underwood was one of the top players in the country could be exactly what the Wolverines need to get back to contending for championships. Michigan really struggled on the offensive side of the ball last year, especially at the quarterback position, with the passing game producing just 1,678 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
There are high expectations for Underwood immediately in Ann Arbor, as he is right in the thick of the competition to be the starter next season. Regardless of why and who influenced Underwood to get to Michigan, the fans in Ann Arbor are ready for him to be on the field.
