Le’Veon Bell reportedly telling teammates when he’ll report to Steelers

Le’Veon Bell’s off-season saga with the Pittsburgh Steelers is still ongoing.

The former Michigan State star and RB for the Pittsburgh Steelers has yet to report to the team after sitting out all of training camp. Bell and the Steelers could not reach an agreement on a long-term deal earlier in the year, and he has yet to sign the franchise tag that Pittsburgh has placed on him.

With that in mind, a report surfaced Tuesday that Bell’s holdout was set to end on Labor Day. Gerry Dulac with The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Bell had told teammates he was planning on reporting to the team on Monday. Dulac also reported that the Steelers were moving forward with the assumption that Bell would be at practice Monday:

Le’Veon Bell has told some of his teammates he will report to the Steelers on Labor Day, in time for their first day of practice for the regular season opener in Cleveland, sources have told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Apparently Bell received word of the report and did not take kindly to it. He made a reference to “fake news” in a tweet sent out Tuesday evening with the message that he didn’t tell anything to anyone:

It remains to be seen if and when Bell will report to the Steelers.

Bell rushed for 1,793 yards with the Spartans in 2012 and for more than 3,000 yards during his career. He is a two-time NFL All-Pro and has rushed for 1,200+ yards three times in his career.
