Ohio State got a commitment from 4-star linebacker CJ Sanna, a prized prospect from the 2026 class who told On3 on Friday morning that he was heading to Columbus.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is from Lewis Center, Ohio, so he chose to stay local and join Ohio State over offers from Big Ten rivals Wisconsin and Indiana as well as Miami.

Sanna had an outstanding junior season of high school ball. He made 97 tackles, including 7 sacks and 11 tackles-for-loss. Sanna also had 8 quarterback hurries, forced 3 fumbles and recovered 2 for Olentangy.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Sanna is ranked 449th overall in the class of 2026, is the 35th-ranked linebacker and is the 20th-ranked player from the state of Ohio.

The Buckeyes now have a class of 2026 commitments list that, in addition to Sanna, includes commitments from California wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., Ohio wide receiver Jaeden Ricketts, Florida tight end Corbyn Fordham, Ohio offensive linemen Maxwell Riley, Sam Greer and Tucker Smith, safety Blaine Bradford and safety Simeon Caldwell and Ohio cornerback Jakob Weatherspoon.

Sanna is the first 2026 linebacker commitment for the Buckeyes. For their 2025 recruiting class, the Buckeyes signed Eli Lee as a middle linebacker, and Sanna seems to fit the same mold. He runs well and is a playmaker.

Now, he’ll reportedly be making plays for the Buckeyes starting in 2026.
