Ohio State has immediately improved its frontcourt for next season after getting a commitment from Wright State transfer forward Brandon Noel.
Noel told On3 of his commitment to the Buckeyes on Tuesday afternoon. Noel will join the Big Ten program for his final season of eligibility.
Noel played 33 games last season for Wright State, averaging 19 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He also shot a brilliant 55.2% from the floor and a solid 35.8% from 3-point range. Noel has a career average of 15.5 points per game across his 3 collegiate seasons.
Wright State’s loss is Ohio State’s gain. The move brings the 6-foot-8, 240-pounder from southwestern Ohio right to the center of Ohio and to center stage in the rugged Big Ten.
“As I got to know the staff, I really felt like they have a good vision for Ohio State basketball moving forward,” Noel said on Tuesday, per The Columbus Dispatch. “I really believe in the players they have there, the players they’re going to bring in and the coaches that are already there to win games next year. One of the biggest things is the retention they have with their players.”
Now, Noel will be one of those players who’ll try to help get Ohio State back to the NCAA Tournament next season. The Buckeyes have missed the tournament the past 3 seasons.
