Kirk Ferentz and Iowa have not added a huge transfer recruiting class this offseason. However, the Hawkeyes have picked up some potential difference-makers, including one along the offensive line on Friday.

That player comes in the form of Bryce George, a 6-foot-5 and 314-pound offensive tackle out of Ferris State. The program is a D-II powerhouse where George was twice an all-conference selection and was an All-American this past season.

George reportedly had visits to Cal, Iowa and USC scheduled during his time in the portal, and landing with the Hawkeyes is a major boost for the Hawkeyes.

Coming out of high school, George was a tight end/defensive end 2-way performer from Detroit, Michigan, but he has been developing into a key offensive lineman in college. Upon entering the portal, George received a 3-star rating from 247 Sports.

George is just the 6th transfer commitment for Iowa so far this offseason and is the first offensive lineman. However, he appears to be a plug-and-play veteran who can easily slide into the lineup for the Hawkeyes.

Iowa has not been scared to scour the lower levels of college football for potential reinforcements in the portal this offseason. Mark Gronowski, the likely starting quarterback this fall, transferred into the program from FCS South Dakota State, along with SDSU teammate and defensive lineman Bryce Hawthorne.
