Michigan has a new punter for the 2025 season.
According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer, the Wolverines have signed former Missouri punter Luke Bauer out of the transfer portal.
Bauer was Missouri’s starting punter for each of the past 2 seasons:

Bauer punted the ball 49 times last season for Mizzou. He had a punting average of 41.78 yards. In 2023, Bauer punted 22 times for an average of 42.1 yards per punt.
According to Pro Football Focus, Bauer averaged 4.04 seconds of hang time on his punts in 2024. That ranks tied for 31st nationally, per PFF.
Michigan is looking for a new punter after Tommy Doman entered the portal back in December. Doman finished 7th amongst 8 qualified Big Ten punters in punting average in 2024.
Hudson Hollenbeck is also still at Michigan and earned some playing time in 2024. He punted 6 times for the Wolverines last year with all of them coming in the ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama.
